Dr Nithin K Srinivasan leads our surgical retina and ocular inflammation department. He has completed his undergraduation from PSG Instiute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore and went on to pursue diploma in ophthalmology (DO) at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Chennai. He got selected for Masters in Ophthalmology (MS) at the prestigious Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore.

During his post-graduation days he developed a keen interest in retinal disorders and followed his passion to complete a fellowship in retinal surgery at Giridhar Eye Institute, Kochi. On completion of his surgical retina training he started working at Madurai Eye Center since 2016.

In 2018 he was invited for a long term fellowship in Ocular Inflammation at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He took this opportunity to train in a niche field at a world class eye institute which was involved in cutting-edge research and innovation. Since 2020 he is back at MEC and established an ocular inflammation unit in the hospital.

Dr Nithin has been the retinal surgeon to many leading eye hospitals in western part of Tamilnadu. He is a visiting retinal consultant at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital and involved in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening and treatment.

He has been conferred as a fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals and enjoys training ophthalmologists in retina and ocular inflammation.

Having been trained in premier institutes in the country and abroad with experience spanning more than a decade, Dr Nithin brings his expertise in treating posterior segment pathologies to MEC.

His areas of interest includes diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), ocular imaging, complex cataract surgery and scleral-fixated intraocular surgery (SFIOL).
